A motorcycle is the first vehicle most Pakistani households ever finance, and it is usually financed informally: dealer installments, committee savings, or a loan from family. The formal halal options are few. As of August 2026 there is exactly one named Islamic bank product for two-wheelers, one microfinance route, and a buy-now-pay-later sector with a Shariah certificate you should verify before trusting. Here is the full picture.

Meezan Apni Bike: the only bank product
Meezan Bank markets Apni Bike as Pakistan's first Musawamah-based motorcycle financing, and the structure is worth understanding because it is not a lease. Musawamah is a bargained sale: the bank buys the bike, then resells it to you at a mutually agreed price paid in installments. Ownership transfers to you immediately when the delivery order is signed. There is no lease period and no rent. Because the sale price is fixed by agreement, no profit accrues on early termination per the published terms.
Eligibility is broad by bank standards: minimum gross income of PKR 40,000 a month, ages 21 to 60 for salaried applicants and 20 to 65 for business owners, available in all Meezan branch cities. Approval is quoted at five to seven working days. Processing costs PKR 2,200 plus FED.
The two schemes, and the takaful catch
The standard scheme takes a 15% to 50% down payment with optional takaful. The 0% markup scheme requires 20% to 50% down and mandatory takaful at 5% per year, which is where the cost hides: on a Rs 400,000 electric bike, that is Rs 20,000 a year in cover. A zero markup with an expensive mandatory add-on is not free money. Price both schemes on total cost over the tenure before choosing.
Tenures are short: up to two years for Chinese and Pakistani bikes, three years for Japanese ones. Short tenures keep total cost down but push monthly installments up, so the product suits commuters with steady income rather than buyers stretching for the cheapest possible monthly.
Electric bikes qualify
Apni Bike covers both gasoline and electric models across ten listed brands: Honda, Suzuki, Vlektra, Hi-Speed, Crown, Benling, Super Power, Eco-Dost, Super Star and Revoo. For a two-wheeler EV, this is one of the very few formal halal financing routes in the country.
The honest gap: no price table
Meezan publishes no markup table for Apni Bike. The installment price is set per deal by agreement, which is valid Musawamah mechanics but means you cannot comparison-shop the cost from the website. The deal economics only surface in a branch. Ask for the total installment price, compute the implied annual rate yourself against the cash price, and compare it with what a bank car product would charge before assuming bike financing is proportionally cheaper.
NRSP Bike Ijarah: the microfinance route
NRSP Microfinance Bank's Islamic division, Pakistan's first regulated Islamic microfinance bank, leases bikes and rickshaws under its Bike and Rozgar Ijarah line: PKR 50,000 to PKR 350,000 over 24 to 36 months. This is the realistic formal option below Meezan's income floor, particularly for riders financing a bike as a work asset. Note one governance caveat from our research: NRSP's historical Shariah advisors are documented, but the current advisor is not named on its crawlable pages, so ask the branch who currently signs off.
The BNPL route, with a caution
QistBazaar, an SECP-licensed installment platform partly owned by Bank Alfalah, sells motorcycles on installments and holds, per press reports from August 2023, the first SECP Shariah compliance certificate issued to a BNPL under a Musawamah structure. The caution: at our August 2026 crawl, QistBazaar's own website published no certificate, named no scholar, and its Musawamah agreement page was empty. The claim may well be true, but a Shariah-sensitive buyer should ask the company for the certificate and the advising scholar's name in writing before treating it as verified.
How to choose
If you earn PKR 40,000 or more and want a mainstream bank contract with instant ownership, Apni Bike is the default, and probably the only choice for an electric bike. Below that income, or for a work rickshaw, NRSP's Ijarah is built for you. Treat BNPL as the option of last resort until its compliance paperwork is visible. And whichever route you take, get the total price in writing and divide it by the cash price yourself; with no published rate tables anywhere in this segment, your own arithmetic is the only price transparency you will get. Frequently asked questions
What makes Apni Bike halal compared to dealer installments?
The structure and the oversight. Meezan actually buys the bike and resells it at an agreed fixed price, a Musawamah sale supervised by a Shariah board chaired by Justice (Retd.) Mufti Taqi Usmani, with the bank's signed Shariah certificate naming Musawamah among its certified modes. Dealer installment plans vary from genuine credit sales to disguised interest, and mostly come with no oversight at all.
Do I own the bike from day one?
Under Apni Bike, yes. Ownership transfers to you at delivery-order signing, which Meezan contrasts explicitly with its own lease products. Under NRSP's Bike Ijarah you are a lessee first, with ownership passing at the end.
Can I finance an electric bike halal in Pakistan?
Yes. Apni Bike lists six electric brands including Vlektra, Benling and Revoo alongside the gasoline lineup. Check whether the 0% scheme's mandatory 5% yearly takaful or the standard scheme with optional takaful prices better for your model.
What income do I need?
PKR 40,000 gross per month for Apni Bike. NRSP's microfinance Ijarah serves lower incomes with financing from PKR 50,000, assessed on your earning activity rather than a salary slip.

Is there a penalty for paying off early?
Apni Bike's published terms state no profit is charged on early termination. Since the Musawamah price is fixed at signing, confirm in the branch how early settlement adjusts the remaining installments.
