Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the one province whose bank got there first. Bank of Khyber has run Islamic operations since 2003, among the earliest windows in Pakistan; by 2019 half its network, 84 of 169 branches, was already Islamic, and in February 2025 it notified the stock exchange that full conversion to an Islamic bank was underway. It is also the one province that has moved government employee pension money into Shariah-compliant funds at meaningful scale.
This guide covers BOK's home-ground pricing, the pension mandates, and what home and car buyers across the province, not just Peshawar, can actually access.

Bank of Khyber's home-ground pricing
BOK's Raast consumer products price at 1-year KIBOR plus a minimum 2.0 percent spread, risk-rated per applicant, across both home and car finance. That is the tightest published minimum spread in the market; national banks' salaried home pricing starts at plus 2.5 to 3 percent. Home Musharakah runs 5 to 20 years for purchase. On the car side BOK is unusual in offering both structures, Car Ijarah with a 30 percent security deposit and Car Diminishing Musharakah with 30 percent minimum equity, so a KP buyer can choose lease or co-ownership mechanics at the same published floor.
Deposit disclosure is the best of any provincial bank: machine-readable monthly tables showed Raast savings at 7.41 percent for June 2026, up from 6.43 percent in January, Riba-Free Special Certificates at 11.17 percent for twelve months, and a 9.00 percent five-year tier reserved for widows and orphans.
The pension mandate is provincial policy, not marketing
The KP government moved employee pension contributions into Islamic funds run by competing managers. Alhamra manages the KPK Government Employees Pension Fund money-market sub-fund, Rs 1.34 billion as of June 2026, launched December 2023. Alfalah's asset manager runs an Islamic KPK Employee Pension Fund, ABL Funds won a GOKP mandate in November 2025, and AL Habib's asset manager lists a GoKP Islamic Pension Fund. For a provincial employee the practical meaning is simple: your pension already invests this way; your personal savings can too, through the same houses' retail funds.
Home financing beyond Peshawar
Peshawar is the only KP city on any restricted list, appearing on Dubai Islamic's eleven-city coverage. Everywhere else the options are BOK, Askari's all-cities Home Musharakah, and the branch-based national products from Meezan and BankIslami. Bank AL Habib has published Islamic branch openings in Peshawar and in Dir, and U Microfinance Bank lists Islamic locations including Matta in Swat, Chitral, Kohat, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Nowshera, Charsadda and Haripur, per cached pages that deserve local confirmation. The full product grid is on the home financing hub.
For first homes, the Wazir-e-Azam Apna Ghar scheme applies across the province: PKR 10 million cap, 5 percent fixed for ten years, income floors from PKR 25,000. Below bank tickets, Akhuwat administers the Governor KP Interest-Free Loan Scheme among its government programs, and NRSP's Islamic division has run standalone Islamic branches in KP since its 2015 to 2018 expansion, with Fori Makan housing finance of Rs 150,001 to 2 million on diminishing musharakah.
Remittances and the KP saver
KP households lean on Gulf remittances more than most of Pakistan, which makes the non-resident products relevant to families here. Islamic Naya Pakistan Certificates through Roshan Digital Accounts paid 11.75 to 12.75 percent expected profit on PKR tenors as of August 2026, on a Mudarabah basis, and Islamic certificates hold about two thirds of all NPC money. At home, CDNS's Sarwa Islamic accounts and BOK's certificate ladder cover the branch-based saver, while Raqami's app paid 10 to 11 percent tiered for June 2026.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bank of Khyber a full Islamic bank now?
Conversion is underway, not complete. The February 2025 stock exchange notice started the process and branch-conversion lists are published. Individual branches convert on their own dates, so confirm your branch's status; the Raast Islamic products themselves have run since 2003.
What is the cheapest halal home financing spread in KP?
BOK publishes a 1-year KIBOR plus 2.0 percent minimum, the lowest printed floor in the market, though your offered rate is risk-rated. Al Baraka's 2.50 percent for approved-company salaried customers is the next lowest published tier among national banks.
Can I get halal home financing in Swat, Abbottabad or Kohat?
Yes, through national products rather than city-listed ones. BOK and Askari make the broadest coverage statements, Meezan and BankIslami finance where they have branches, and the government scheme works through any participating bank's local branch.
What happened with the KP government pension money?
The province placed employee pension funds with Islamic managers: Alhamra's KPK fund held Rs 1.34 billion at June 2026, with Alfalah, ABL Funds and AL Habib Asset Management running parallel mandates. It is one of the clearest provincial commitments to Islamic finance in the country.

Does BOK finance cars outside Peshawar?
Its Car Ijarah and Car Diminishing Musharakah are provincial-bank products sold through its branch network, at the same published KIBOR plus 2.0 percent minimum. The national menu on the car financing hub applies too, wherever those banks keep branches.
