Peshawar is the one major Pakistani city with a genuine home-field bank in this market. Bank of Khyber, majority-owned by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, has run Islamic operations since 2003 under its Raast brand and initiated full conversion to an Islamic bank in February 2025 per its PSX notice. Its car financing carries the lowest published minimum spread in the country. Demand-side, KP's remittance economy and a strong regional preference for riba-free banking make Peshawar one of Pakistan's most naturally Islamic-banking-inclined markets. The national products all serve the city too; here is the full picture.

The home option: BOK Raast, two structures, one price
BOK is the only bank in the market that offers its car financing in both classical structures and lets you choose: Raast Car Ijarah, a bank-owned lease with a 30% security deposit, or Raast Car Diminishing Musharakah, joint ownership with 30% minimum equity. Both price at 1-year KIBOR plus a minimum 2.0% spread, the lowest published minimum in the segment, over one to five years for cars up to 1000cc and up to three years above. The honest caveats: your actual spread depends on an undisclosed internal risk rating, processing fees live in the Schedule of Charges, and the local-manufacture wording implies imported vehicles are excluded without saying so.
The national menu, all present in Peshawar
Ijarah: Meezan Car Ijarah at published fixed rates of 12.98% to 13.29% (August 3, 2026 crawl), Bank Alfalah, Allied Aitebar at 1-year KIBOR plus 1.75% to 5%, and Askari's fixed-for-full-term rental at 13.79% to 15.37%. Diminishing Musharakah: UBL Ameen Drive, Faysal Islami, BankIslami, HBL Islamic, Bank AL Habib, Al Baraka Carsaaz, DIB and MCB MICAR. Compare them all on our auto financing page.
Remittance income counts here
KP's economy runs on money sent home, and two products meet it directly. BankIslami states no minimum income requirement and accepts remittance income alongside pension and rental income. MCB MICAR runs a foreign-remittance beneficiary variant from PKR 50,000 of monthly income, half its standard salaried floor. For family members abroad who want to finance the car themselves, the Roshan Digital Account routes at Meezan, Allied Aitebar and DIB work from overseas.
The national numbers
Deposits: 15% to 50% by bank and segment, with 30% standard, and BOK at exactly 30% for both its structures. Financing caps at PKR 3 million at most banks under the SBP consumer limit; Meezan reaches PKR 10 million. Takaful is mandatory, with published bank-panel rates from 1.49% at BankIslami to 1.75% at HBL and 1.99% and up at Meezan. KIBOR-linked spreads sit on a 1-year KIBOR that printed 12.34% in May 2026.
Honest notes for Peshawar
BOK's low headline spread is a minimum, not a promise; a risk-rated applicant without strong documentation may be quoted well above plus 2.0%, at which point Allied Aitebar's published salaried plus 3% or Meezan's fixed table may beat it. Branch coverage for some Karachi-based windows is thinner in KP than in Punjab or Sindh, so a product that requires branch pricing may cost you more trips here. And trackers plus comprehensive cover are mandatory market-wide, which adds real annual cost. For a shortlist built on your income type, get matched.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bank of Khyber fully Islamic now?
It is converting. BOK has run Islamic banking since 2003 and announced full conversion beginning February 2025 through a PSX notice. Its Raast products operate under a four-member Shariah board chaired by Mufti Muhammad Zahid.
Should I choose BOK's Ijarah or its Diminishing Musharakah?
Same price, different risk allocation. Under Ijarah the bank owns the car and carries more asset risk; under Diminishing Musharakah you build equity from day one and early buyout is usually simpler. Our structure comparison guide covers the trade in detail.
Can I qualify on remittance income from a family member abroad?
BankIslami accepts remittance income explicitly, and MCB MICAR has a dedicated remittance-beneficiary variant from PKR 50,000 a month. Bring formal remittance records through banking channels; cash transfers via informal routes will not underwrite.
What is the cheapest published rate available in Peshawar?
BOK's 1-year KIBOR plus 2.0% minimum is the lowest published spread nationally, subject to risk rating. Among fixed rates, Meezan's 12.98% to 13.29% table leads, with the caveat that it can be revised at disbursement.

Are imported cars financeable?
Generally no. BOK, BankIslami and Faysal specify locally manufactured or assembled vehicles, and the pattern holds across most of the market. Ask the branch explicitly if you have an import in mind.
